Pantene Fine Hair Sheer Volume shampoo and conditioner - review

Products mentioned in this post were sent to me by the Croatian Pantene team. However, this review is my honest opinion. I have not been paid to write a favorable review.

One of the first things I packed for my trip to Romania were Pantene Fine Hair Sheer Volume shampoo and conditioner.

Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo

Pantene Sheer Volume Conditioner

Now, this wouldn't be anything spectacular if I weren't one of those people who have a difficulty finding a good drugstore which doesn't irritate my scalp, make my hair way too greasy or even cause dandruff. Head&Shoulders, Nivea and Fructis have turned out to be inadequate for me. For years I believed that no "cheap" drugstore hair shampoo could replace the more high-end ones like Keune or Klorane which I have been using for a long time now.

But then I got contacted by the Croatian Pantene team and was offered their volumizing shampoo and conditioner to review. Prior to getting these two products sent I had to fill out a short questionnaire about my hair type so that they would know exactly which product in their range would suit me.

My hair is naturally very thin, completely straight without any volume whatsoever so I'm always on the lookout for a product which promises amazing volume.

The package arrived within days and needless to say I was very excited. It smelled divine when I opened it but the scent alone wouldn't make me love these two products unless they delivered some fantastic results.

And they did. Although I was very skeptical about the fact that a conditioner is supposed to give my hair volume. I guess I didn't realize how it could work because I always thought that the hair root area was the one that needed volume, not the rest of the hair.

However, I was wrong. Very wrong.

And here is why.

- The fact is that my hair looks way better when I use these products. This was apparent the first time I used them. It has a lot more volume that usually even when I let it air dry, which I usually prefer to do.

- My hair feels thicker.

But how is this possible?

- It appears that the secret behind the shampoo and the conditioner is that they dry out the hair a bit - the reason why I say this is because my hair roots don't get greasy as fast as they "normally" do, meaning that I have to wash my hair after 4 to 5 days as opposed to 3 to 4 as usual, and the overall feel to my hair is direr than with Klorane shampoo and Keune conditioner/Fructis hair mask. However, this isn't a bad this isn't a bad thing at all - my hair is still very soft, healthy-looking and shiny.

- You have to use both the shampoo and the conditioner, otherwise you won't get the same results.

- If you buy the shampoo but not the conditioner you will encounter a major problem, at least this is the case with me and my hair is quite fine and this - you will not be able to untangle it once you've washed out the shampoo.
I would say that it strips the hair of its natural moisture and this is where the conditioner comes in - it "revives" it in a way. Now, I have tried to combine the Pantene shampoo with my Keune daily conditioner and the overall result wasn't as good as with the Pantene conditioner.

My end thoughts:

If you love you hair to feel stronger, thicker and (more) voluminous and are rather reluctant to pay a lot of money to get good results then this is just the right product for you!

However, if you have naturally dry hair I'm not sure how this would work because of the reasons which I have mentioned above.

I for one will definitely be repurchasing these two!
